Cabinet Refinishing Questions, Answered — Clearwater & Tampa Bay

Honest answers about cabinet refinishing in Clearwater and Tampa Bay — cost, timeline, materials, and what to expect. Don't see your question? Call or text 727-238-5324.

How much does cabinet refinishing cost in Clearwater and Tampa Bay?

Every kitchen is different, so cost depends on the size of your kitchen, the number of doors and drawers, the layout, and your door style — a detailed raised-panel door takes more prep and spray time than a simple shaker, and that's reflected in the price. Most of our kitchen projects start around $4,000, and even larger kitchens typically come in at a fraction of full cabinet replacement, which generally starts around $15,000 in Tampa Bay. Call or text us at 727-238-5324 for a free estimate — we'll give you an honest number for your specific kitchen.

Is refinishing cheaper than replacing kitchen cabinets?

Yes — significantly. Refinishing keeps the cabinet boxes and doors you already have, so you avoid the cost, waste, and weeks-long disruption of a full remodel. Most clients spend far less than a replacement would cost, often with budget left over for other upgrades like a backsplash or wall paint. Call or text us at 727-238-5324 for a free estimate.

How long does cabinet refinishing take?

Most projects are completed in about five days. Because we work with your existing cabinets, there's no demolition and no living in a construction zone for weeks — you're back to your normal routine quickly.

What's the difference between cabinet refinishing and cabinet painting?

Many cabinet painters roll on a few coats of wall paint. We don't. Our process starts with a professional-grade degrease and cleaning, then sanding to give the surface proper tooth, and filling dings and imperfections so the finish goes on smooth. If you're changing hardware styles, we can also fill and conceal old hardware holes for an additional fee. Next comes a cabinet-specific primer that blocks old stains and helps the finish bond properly. We then spray-apply a water-based acrylic polyurethane blend designed specifically for cabinets — it cures to a hard, smooth finish that resists chips, scratches, and daily wear. The result looks factory-fresh and is built to last.

Can laminate, formica, or thermofoil cabinets be painted?

Yes. We refinish laminate, formica, and thermofoil cabinets, not just solid wood. These non-porous surfaces can't simply be painted with wall paint — they require the right prep and a bonding primer made for slick surfaces, which is exactly how our process is built. If your laminate or thermofoil cabinets are structurally sound, refinishing gives them a durable, factory-smooth new finish at a fraction of replacement cost. Call or text 727-238-5324 for a free estimate.

Is your work guaranteed?

Yes. Every project is backed by our 2-year workmanship warranty: if the finish peels, bubbles, or loses adhesion because of our preparation or application, we'll repair the affected area at no charge. The warranty covers our workmanship — not damage from impacts, moisture, harsh cleaners, or everyday wear.

What products do you use? Are they safe for my family?

We spray-apply Renner wood coatings — water-based, low-VOC finishes from an Italian manufacturer with over 50 years in professional wood coatings. These aren't wall paints: Renner's cabinet-grade acrylic polyurethane formulas are non-yellowing (so your whites stay white) and cure to a hard finish that resists scratches, abrasion, and household chemicals. We're also EPA Lead-Safe certified, and we can match any color you bring us in paint or stain.

Can you fill old hardware holes if I'm changing my pulls or knobs?

Yes. If your new hardware has different hole spacing, we can fill and conceal the old holes so your doors and drawers look factory-drilled for the new pulls — available for an additional fee. Just let us know when you request your estimate so we can include it.

What areas do you serve?

We're based in Clearwater and proudly serve Pinellas County and the greater Tampa Bay area.

Do you refinish furniture and doors too?

Yes. Beyond kitchen cabinets, we refinish bathroom vanities, furniture (including heirloom pieces), interior and exterior doors, and other wood and wood-like items. We use the same professional spray technique on every project, with coatings matched to each surface — the right product for a cabinet isn't always the right product for an exterior door.
